There is something effortlessly elegant about a black-and-white wedding, and Jordan and Carson’s June celebration at The Meadows at Firefly Farm Preserve was a beautiful example of how a classic palette can feel completely at home in a natural setting.
Set against the lush greens and soft summer landscape of Raleigh, North Carolina, their wedding paired crisp black formalwear, romantic white florals, and understated details with the warmth of an outdoor summer celebration. The result was timeless without feeling overly formal—elegant, joyful, and full of personality.
A Classic Wedding Morning at Aerie House
Jordan began her wedding day surrounded by the quiet charm of Aerie House. With sunlight streaming through the windows, the getting-ready portion of the day created some of the most intimate photographs of the celebration.
Her wedding details offered a beautiful preview of the aesthetic to come: delicate gold jewelry, soft botanical elements, lace, and a romantic invitation suite featuring subtle shades of green and blue.
Jordan's lace gown was the perfect complement to the setting. The structured bodice, delicate straps, and all-over floral lace brought texture to an otherwise minimalist wedding palette.
Meanwhile, Carson and his groomsmen embraced classic black tie. Black tuxedos, crisp white shirts, black bow ties, and white pocket squares created a polished look that will feel just as stylish decades from now as it did on their wedding day.
Black, White & Naturally Green
Rather than introducing a traditional wedding "color," Jordan and Carson allowed the landscape of Firefly Farm Preserve to provide it.
The wedding party dressed entirely in black, with the bridesmaids choosing different silhouettes and styles. White bouquets provided a beautiful contrast, while natural greenery connected the florals back to the surrounding property.
It's one of the reasons we love a black-and-white wedding at The Meadows: nature becomes the third color in the palette.
The deep black attire, crisp white florals, and layers of summer green created a sophisticated combination that still felt relaxed enough for an outdoor North Carolina wedding.
A Summer Ceremony Overlooking The Meadows
For their ceremony, Jordan and Carson chose The Lawn at Aerie House, one of the property's outdoor ceremony settings.
Guests were seated beneath the canopy of mature trees with views stretching beyond the ceremony space toward the meadows and tree line.
A simple wooden arbor framed the couple, decorated asymmetrically with abundant white flowers and greenery. Additional florals at its base softened the design without taking away from the landscape behind it.
The effect was romantic but intentionally unfussy.
Instead of transforming the setting, the ceremony design worked with it.
And when Jordan and Carson finally shared their first kiss as husband and wife beneath the arbor, the simplicity of the design made the moment itself the focus.
One Very Memorable Ceremony Exit
Their ceremony exit might be one of our favorite parts of the day.
With their wedding party cheering behind them and white petals floating through the air, Carson swept Jordan into a dramatic dip for a newlywed kiss.
It's playful, celebratory, and just a little unexpected—the kind of photograph that captures much more than what the wedding looked like.
It captures what it felt like.
A Wedding Party That Proved Classic Doesn't Mean Stuffy
Jordan and Carson's wedding party continued that energy throughout the day.
The all-black attire looked formal in portraits, but the group itself brought plenty of personality to the photographs. Some of our favorite images are the ones where everyone is walking, laughing, and interacting rather than perfectly posed.
Against the greenery of the preserve, the black attire and white bouquets practically pop from the landscape.
It also demonstrates one of the easiest ways to make a large wedding party look cohesive: choose a strong, simple palette while allowing individuals some flexibility within it.
Quiet Moments Between the Celebration
For all the excitement surrounding a wedding day, some of the photographs couples treasure most are often the quiet ones.
Jordan and Carson's gallery beautifully moves between both.
There are the big moments—the ceremony, the wedding party, the kiss—and then there are photographs like Carson helping Jordan with her dress as they make their way outside together.
