To hear Renee + Lou’s story and watch their wedding day come to fruition was a tender personification of an otherwise academic term. We highly recommend tuning into your Spotify Alt-J station, pouring a hot coffee (or making a stiff drink), and scrolling through for Renee + Lou’s greatest hits.

Their wedding was a unique combination of traditional elements; timeless but funky, neutral yet bold, organic and elegant, fun as hell and also deeply emotional. Above all else, it was so dang “them”. They bonded over a shared love of all things music and managed to thoughtfully string lyrical odes throughout the decor. Speaking of, the wedding planning Grammy Award of 2019 goes to Michelle of Magnolia and Grace for her capacity to reproduce Renee + Lou’s love song in the form of a captivating celebration.

In fact, their welcome table included an actual gramophone! To give the otherwise graceful scene a touch of grunge, it was topped by a neon quip from The Beatles. Renee & Lou still have this, and other custom pieces (like their bar sign) in their home today. Guests were able to sign a vinyl record instead of a book, and their day-of stationary included more musical nods.. My personal favorite? The Breezeblocks (if you know, you know) because it was a balmy September wedding, after all.

From essential oil rollers at each table setting to ceremony fedoras for the men, Renee & Lou made sure to include tokens of their appreciation throughout the day. And while this entry is the smallest insight to Renee + Lou’s resiliency and profound love, we know that weddings aren’t just cake smashes, seating charts, and pretty flowers. Instead, they are remarkable opportunities to witness the strength in someone’s story.
